LIGHT up the darkness Michael and I weaved our way through the red cobble-stoned pathways of the age-old city, Dulikel, situated just 40 km east of Kathmandu. We followed the broken path, passing by a pool of forest green water, decorated with Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction, standing tall with trident in hand and his malevolent serpent draped around his neck. This was a stark reminder of the penetrating darkness that engulfs this land. We had come to this city to visit Michael’s uncle, Pastor Lila, his wife Rina and their 18 children who live with them, Grace Orphan Home . We arrived with a warm welcome of hugs and smiling faces. What peace filled this happy home! They are truly a light piercing the darkness.
