Reaching For . . .

We are all created with an innate desire to reach out in search for an experience that will gratify our cravings…longing to quench our thirst for love and satisfy our empty souls.

As we were working on our marriage certificate in Gorkha, Nepal, a street lady approached us. She shared her story…

In her early 20’s she became sick. Her husband cared for her until he passed away. Left alone with her paralyzing illness she was forced to the severe and unforgiving life of living on the streets. There she spent her days begging for a few coins in hope to fill her empty stomach. The harsh reality of street life soon enchained her to alcohol addiction.  She spends her days in search for an experience that will satisfy her empty heart. Everyday she reaches out for a few coins to fill her thirst for another experience of drunken stupor until again she is left empty and alone. This is her life.

Ultimately we all live for an experience. We are all searching to satisfy our thirst for peace and love. Some people look to money, sex, fame and the praise of man to experience a few minutes of “happiness” that will leave them emptier than before.

What experience are you reaching for?

Jesus is the only ONE who will satisfy the emptiness that engulfs the heart of every living soul. He is the true source of all satisfaction. He alone fashions a lasting experience that will quench the thirst of the peace and love one so longs for. Jesus says, “Come to me all you who are thirsty and I will give you rest.”
