Starting in Nepal

Michael and I have had an incredible 5 weeks since I first arrived May 1st. Beginning our new life and ministry has been the most exciting and joyful time of our LIFE.

This past month we have stayed busy planning our wedding, going back and forth to the government offices for our marriage certificate, setting up our home and (Michael) recording worship music day and night. In the midst of this busy schedule, we have asked the Lord to use us as a light to whomever we come in contact. There are so many people who have yet to hear the Gospel. We are literally surrounded by idols. The lady who lives above us has a whole room devoted to her idols.
We met Abishek on our trip to Michael’s childhood village to work on our marriage certificate. Abishek ran away from his home when he was just 12 years old. He traveled from his remote village to Kathmandu to work on a micro-bus (transportation). We were able to share the Gospel with him as he said he had never heard the name of Jesus.
Lord, we pray that you open Abishek’s heart to receive you as Lord and Savior.
On a previous trip we were able to share the Gospel with a remote village who had also never even heard the name of Jesus. They were comparing Jesus to a vegetable that sounded like Yeshu (Jesus). After hearing the Good News many people accepted Jesus with tears in their eyes. Hallelujah, praise the Lord for Salvation!
We traveled many times to Michael’s home village, Gorkha to work on our wedding certificate. We had to appear before two police stations where they signed documents so we could continue with this complicated and corrupt process. We appeared at the government office to hand in the police document and they asked Michael in code word to “sing” for a bribe. They would get our work done within a day if we give them a few dollars but the Bible says we should not bribe, so we are praying for God’s provision. We were told to return in ten days. That evening we stayed in Michael’s village with his Mama and Miju (uncle and aunt). Our dinner, rice and chicken were cooked over an open fire, just how Michael grew up. In this village they grow rice, potatoes, vegetables and are able to survive off the land. Here life is so simple. We went swimming in the river near his home with the beautiful sun setting in the background over the spectacular Himalayas! Wow, it was unbelievably beautiful. A few children were jumping off rocks… fishermen catching fish with nets.

Ministry

Michael and I are excited to begin life and ministry together. The ministries we are looking forward to in the next few months are:
  • Working among the homeless
  • Trekking to unreached villages
  • Worship with HRC, Michael’s band. They have just recorded their first CD. We will be traveling to the border of Bhutan and India this fall to minister and evangelize with HRC.
  • Michael will also begin teaching worship classes at a college.
  • The orphanages in Nepal and India are doing well. We just heard that there is another orphanage starting in Bangladesh that we are helping with. Pray also for the Lord’s provision. I met with a girl the other day who was and incredibly strong Christian. She was taken off the streets from abuse at the young age of 12 and how her life has changed! She is now serving the Lord with all her heart.
I will also be starting 5 hours of Nepali lessons each week. My hearts desire is to learn Nepali. Please pray for understanding a quick learning.
We are excited for the ministry the Lord has for us and His provision. Michael and I would be so blessed with your support… especially your prayers. All the work we are doing is volunteer and we are trusting the Lord for His provision. If you feel lead to support our ministry, you can write a check
