A glimpse of February

Dhaulagiri Retreat
February 2-6th

Samuel Lama, our organizer asked three men, “where did you guys come from?”
“Very far” the men replied.
“How far?” Samuel asked.
“We walked two days, by foot to attend this youth camp.”

This was one of many young men and women who came to learn and enjoy the fellowship.

The 5th Dhaulagiri camp is organized by GMP (Global Missions Partnership) once a year to enflame their passion for gospel. There were nearly 150 young adults. I was privileged to lead a worship team and a workshop on worship. This time Holly was also with me. She shared on The Father’s Heart of Love and challenged the youth to be “world changers and history makers”.

One testimony:
The theme of this camp was “ I am Loved” –John 3:16

As we were in the closing ceremony, a young guy came on the stage. I was thinking, what is this guy doing on the stage? To my surprise he went to the mic and started to speak. Overwhelmed with how God touched his heart, he shared how he use to view himself as worthless and weak.  Even he would question why am I in this world? He said, “Today I have realized that I am loved”. His tears spoke more than thousand words can ever express.
This kind of conference plays a significant role to fan the flame of God inside of them. I have heard many testimonies of how they eagerly wait for the month of February to come so that they can come to this retreat to learn new things and meet other fellow believers. I am thankful for GMP who organizes this camp and for those who are praying and supporting our ministry. Definitely, this trip was life changing for many young people. Jaimashia-Praise the LORD!

Michael lead worship and Holly challenged the youth to search
for love in Jesus. Many youth were moved and crying. Pray for
more opportunities to Worship and share the Word.

 Sushma

“God will provide for you,” I (Holly) told Sushma

Who am I to tell her this? What do I know of hardship? I thought.

Sushma Mugar has a gentle smile. Her dark brown eyes hold a strength and dignity that emanates from enduring trials. She fled to Kathmandu six years ago after the Maoists murdered her husband. Three months pregnant, with little money and no education she wondered how she would survive as a single mother.

After giving birth to Roshni, she decided to go to church even though she was Hindu. She thought she would find kindness. She thought Christians would help her and her daughter survive.

She found a job at an elderly missionary home. She worked there for 2 years making just 50 cents a day. Her mornings began at 4 am and ended late at night. She was mistreated and miserable.

She began to realize she had been looking to “Christians” for help rather than God. She is learning that God is her Provider.

After running away from the missionary, she began to work as a laborer caring cement and bricks up four story construction cites. She did this grueling labor from early morning to late evening. She was happy to make $2.5 dollars a day. "After 16 days of work I was able to get enough money for my daughter’s school uniform."

“I still have many problems. I find work when I can, carrying bricks, cleaning houses and washing laundry. My dream is to have a sustainable job so I can support my daughter.” (School fees cost $15 a month).

Let us love the least of these. Father, You are our Provider. We are confident you will provide food, shelter, clothing and education for our beloved sisters Sushma and Roshni in Jesus Name.

Michael and I often come across people in need, single mothers, street children, impoverished families working in ministry and orphans that we want to sponsor ($15-30) each month. We are prayerfully starting a non profit organization that we are hoping to raise long term support for needy people in Nepal, India and around the world. I will write more details soon. Thank you for being a part of our ministry. We bless you all in Jesus Name!
